“A day without laughter is a day wasted “. -Charlie Chaplin
Sal tries to live his favorite quote by making someone laugh every day. He uses his writing, illustrating and animation skills to create endearing characters and comedic stories with the same goal: to get someone to laugh today and everyday.
Born in New York City, Sal moved to a steep hillside neighborhood in
North Bergen, New Jersey at the age of 10 (days) with his four older sisters and Lady, their cocker spaniel.
He currently lives in Arizona with his artistic partner and wife, Sheri, who he defines as his inspiration.
On any given day Sal might be painting, sculpting, drawing, animating, writing or enjoying one of his favorite pastimes: cooking, television, movies and golf.
Sal is a member of SCBWI
The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
SCBWI is the international professional organization for writers and illustrators of children’s literature since 1971.
- For me it all starts with making someone laugh. When I write something that creates laughter, well, that’s just great. Plus, as an author, I get to put my personal spin on whatever I’m writing. For example, in my book, Mary Elizabeth The Spotless Cow, I send a positive message to kids. It shows how to deal with difficult personal and social situations using humor, diplomacy and intelligence. The illustrations are lighthearted and fun.
- In my book series, A Sweetles Dream®, the stories are the dreams of a little dog named Sweetles™. He dreams about animals and their social and personal situations. It’s a unique concept that can be silly and goofy. And it’s a way for me to write about tough situations in a lighthearted manner. Also, by injecting humor that adults can enjoy, it’s a win-win for both the youngsters and their adult caregivers to read together.
